UAF Statement Opposing North West Infidels Rally on 27th February

Unite Against Fascism Statement Opposing NWI Rally on 27th February

We are appalled that the fascist-led 'North West Infidels' splinter group have said on social media that they will rally at an undisclosed location somewhere in Manchester on Saturday 27th February.

This group originally broke away from other racists like the English Defence League because the latter were not racist enough for them.  Mostly middle-aged veterans of 1970s fascist gangs like the National Front and Combat 18, they seek to disrupt the peace of multicultural Manchester on 27th February by offering intimidation and violence to anyone who rejects their politics of hate.

We are witnessing the biggest movement of refugees in Europe since the 1940s.  The sustained support shown for the refugees is confirmation that most people reject the hatred peddled by groups like the North West Infidels.

We invite all Manchester's communities to support our public rally to celebrate multicultural Manchester and to reject racism at 12 midday in Piccadilly Gardens in the city centre on Saturday 27th February. We also ask people to join us on the coaches travelling the join the Stand Up To Racism national demonstration in London on Saturday 19th March.
