Micheal Moore Lays into the the Islamophobes in his New Blog

Michael Moore has kicked off his new daily OpenMike blog with a withering attack on the Islamophobes who are targeting the so-called Ground Zero Mosque. His first two posts which are devoted to the subject can see be seen here and here.
In his second post, Moore calls upon opponents of Islamophobia and the book-burning "whacko" Pastor Jones to donate money to the Park51 project, which is not actually at Ground Zero but is several streets away from it. The project seeks to build a Muslim community centre with a prayer room (not a Mosque). Mike will match the first $10,000 dollars raised. Donations can be made via PayPal here. Update. 14.9.10. $50,000 dollars has already been donated to the Parkt51 project as a result of Moore's initiative

You can also register with Moore's site and comment on his posts. Some of the existing comments are revealing. One of them points out that:
"Before the World Trade Center was even designed (with Islamic architectural elements, incidentally), the ground was indeed sacrosanct: The bones of some 20,000 African slaves are buried 25 feet below Lower Manhattan. As at least 10 percent of West African slaves in America were Muslims, it’s not out of bounds to extrapolate that ground zero itself was built on the bones of at least a few Muslim slaves. Why are the Cordoba initiative people responsible for actions of "OTHERS" when WE don't apologize for electing Bush not once but twice who has caused death and destruction especially in Muslim countries. Where is the sensitivity when we have an embassy the size of the Vatican in Baghdad where we inflicted thousands of 9/11s on Iraqis with lies after lies? Where is the sensitivity when New York was pretty much built upon Native American and as I mentioned before black slave blood many of whom were muslims?

For some time, activists, historians, and city officials have been working together to excavate and preserve the bones of the slaves buried under present-day lower Manhattan. A recent excavation of a 14,000 square foot section of the six-acre burial ground found that 92 percent of the 419 skeletons were of African descent, and 40 percent were children under 12. The bones of the 419 slaves were eventually reinterred.

All dressed up and nowhere to go II
The Guardian reports that 7 members of the EDL attended the far right protest against the so-called Ground Zero Mosque on September 11th in New York (the pro-Mosque counter demo was much bigger--see video above). EDL leader "Tommy Robinson" was taken into custody when he arrived at JFK airport and was then deported back to Britain. But other EDL thugs were allowed to attend the protest.
